WINTER 2012
Columbia High School Global Logistics Academy Hosts Key Supply Chain Session
The Employ Florida Banner Center for Global Logistics held its second of only two Advisory Council meetings for this contract year at Columbia High School Global Logistics Academy, its first held at a high school and Career Academy! Thank you CHS!
The Director and the Executive Committee provided a brief Banner Center update, each Career Academy provided an update on each of their respective programs, and partner Colleges highlighted their Logistics and SCM certificate and degree offerings. CHS staff and Columbia County Board Members were also present, with a word from CHS Principal and Advisory Council Member Terry Huddleston, Columbia County Superintendent Mike Millikin, and County Commissioner Ronald Williams to talk about CHS GLA and the inland port being developed by Columbia County and Plum Creek, whose staff was also present. The Banner Center also honored its partners with an award certificate for each.
Before lunch everyone gathered for the CHS GLA logistics warehouse ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Afterward, discussions continued on the direction the Banner Center should take as it moves forward in fulfilling its mission and is required to be sustainable when the contract with WFI ends on June 30, 2012.
As always, the input and support from the Advisory Council members is deeply appreciated.

Nova Southeastern University – Orlando Student Educational Center, Hosts Key Supply Chain Session
The Employ Florida Banner Center for Global Logistics held its first of only two Advisory Council meetings for this contract year at Nova Southeastern University – Orlando Student Educational Center.
The Director and the Executive Committee provided a brief Banner Center update, Question and Answer session, discussion on upcoming events, and a discussion on the direction the Banner Center should take as it moves forward in fulfilling its mission and is required to be sustainable when the contract with WFI ends on June 30, 2012.
As always, the input and support from the Advisory Council members is deeply appreciated.

Broward College, South Campus, Hosts Key Supply Chain Session
We had a brief Banner Center update and then immediately broke out into our Roundtable Pillars. These sessions provided us with industry guidance which supports future planning for the Banner Center and members have reported that they enjoy the interaction of working in small groups. The Roundtable Pillars make a strong impact on Florida’s education and workforce development system.

LYNX Transportation Hosts Fall 2007 Supply Chain Session
The fall Advisory Council meeting for Banner Center was held on November 14th at LYNX – Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority in downtown Orlando, Florida.

Florida Trend Magazine Hosts Key Supply Chain Session
Banner Center Statewide Advisory Council
Advisory Council - Launch 2007 Session Agenda & Pres. (432 KB)
Florida Trend partnered with Banner Center to host the launch session of the new Statewide Advisory Council. The Statewide Advisory Council is made up of Florida's top business leaders and experts in the fields of logistics and distribution, and will meet on a regular basis as determined by the Council to cultivate curricula, communications, and talent. These steps are essential to establishing Florida as a place where excellence in supply chain builds careers, companies, and markets.
The Council team met in the 6th floor large conference room in the St. Pete Times Building in St. Petersburg, Florida, on June 6th.
The agenda for this important four hour launch session included:
- Introduction to Council members.
- Profile of the Banner Process.
- Findings and Concepts for Logistics and Distribution Firms.
- Regional Perspectives.
- Establishing a Flexible Communications Protocol for Council Participants.
Summary notes from this launch session will be provided to all partner agencies and delivered to the pertinent committees of Florida's House and Senate.
